This safari video was taken in Savuti, an area within Chobe National Park, in early September in the dry season.

The location we were in is approximately shown by the red elipse. The area is famous for the Savuti Channel, which periodically dries up. Moremi is outlined in orange and the Okavango delta in blue.

Daytime temperatures reach 38 C but nights quickly cooled down to a few dgrees above freezing by dawn.

Game viewing was good, with a wide variety of animals such as impala, kudu and wildebeeste, and notably large numbers of giraffe, although some other species such as zebra and buffalo had largely migrated in search of fresh food and more importanly, water.

The big cats and wild dogs are a highlight of the area. Some of the lions have exceptional black manes and are extremely impressive to see.
